Are training methods individual to the dog, or is there really a one-size-fits-all?

If you have a true "Trainer", the methods of training EACH dog is measured by what FITS that particular dog. Do NOT fall for any hype of he'll learn faster with this device or that device. Watch out for that sales job. What you want is someone who will watch you and your dog and feed into what types of "TECHNIQUES" to try, Devices are for the Last resort! It is important to understand that the devices are only used as a LAST resort...not to speed up someones training job. Anything that causes any dog any pain is to be really evaluated and weighed for the actual value of what is being taught to that animal. Personally, if some behaviour of you dog is going to endanger that dog's life or well being, then go ahead and use it...but not before you explore the techniques that might be even better. Remember your dog is a family member make sure he is honored as one too...no matter who is near him! Most importantly, make Sure if you are going to be using that "device " make sure it is going to be used correctly! Always ask lots of questions too!
